How To Change Input On LG TV Without Remote (Step-By-Step)

In this post, I’ll teach you how to change the input on your LG Smart TV in 5 minutes or less.

Even if you can’t find or broke your remote control, you’ll be able to change inputs by the end of this post!

How To Change Input On LG Smart TV Without Remote

To change the input on your LG TV without a remote, you’ll need to first find the buttons on your LG TV (usually under the logo). Then, power the LG TV on and use the buttons to navigate the menu. Tap the power button repeatedly to open the inputs menu and choose your preferred input!

Change Input with TV Buttons

Our first method for changing the input on an LG TV is to use the physical buttons on your television.

Generally, these are located under the LG logo on the bottom of your TV, but it will vary based on the model. You can check their official product manuals if you’re having trouble finding them!

Now that you found the buttons, let’s get into changing the input.

Turn the LG TV on

First, you’ll want to press the power button to turn on the LG TV.

If that doesn’t work, hold either the volume or channel button for a few seconds to turn on the television.

Locate and use the Input button

Once it’s on, you’ll want to find the input button on the television so you can change the input.

Most LG TV models feature the classic six-button setup: a power button, two volume buttons, two channel buttons, and a menu button.

On older models, you may even have an input button. If so, it’ll be the left-most or right-most button; that’s the simplest way to change inputs.

And on newer models, the power button will double as the input button.

And in rare cases, you will find a joystick that allows you to switch between the inputs on your television!

NOTE: Tapping the power button repeatedly will open a new menu where you can change the input. Once it’s open, click the button once to navigate and hold it to select the input.

Change Input with Smartphone App

Next, you can change the input on your LG Smart TV with their smartphone app — LG ThinQ App (available on both iOS and Android devices).

Once the app is downloaded, make sure you turn the television on and connect it to the WiFi network.

NOTE: Connect the LG TV and Smartphone to the same WiFi network to avoid connection issues.

Launch the application and create an account (or sign-in) using the login options shown.

After you’re signed in, click the “Add A Device” button near the center of your phone’s screen.

Read the instructions on your screen, and then click “Ok.”

Open the Appliances section and select TV on the top right.

Find the right television, click it, and wait a few seconds for a code to appear.

Enter the verification code from your LG Smart TV onto your smartphone, then click the Move to Home button.

Click the “Input” logo on your virtual remote to cycle through the television’s inputs.

Now, you’re all set to change the input using your smartphone!

Change Input with Computer Mouse

Lastly, you can change the input on your television using a computer mouse.

To start, find or purchase a computer mouse. It can be wireless or wired, but it must connect through the USB port.

Plug the sensor, or wired mouse into the back of your LG TV; it should be on the back of the television, in line with the HDMI ports.

Power the television, press the input button, and use the mouse to select the correct input.

There are a few things you can try if you cannot fix “no signal” on your LG television.

Contact LG TV Support

They’re available seven days a week, from 8 AM to 9 PM EST, and can be contacted in a few different ways:

NOTE: Shortest wait times are typically between 11 am – 5 pm EST.
