Why Won’t The Vizio Pluto App Work? (Try This Quick Fix)

In this article, I’ll show you how to fix the Pluto app on your Vizio Smart TV in 15 minutes or less.

Once you’re finished, you’ll be able to watch your favorite Pluto videos directly on your Vizio television without any problems.

How To Fix The Pluto App On A Vizio TV

If the Vizio Pluto app isn’t working, you should reset it. To do this, disconnect your TV from the wall and wait 60 seconds. While the device is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then, wait a minute and reconnect your TV’s power cable. The TV will softly reboot, and the Pluto app should work on your Vizio TV.

Power cycle your Vizio TV

One of the best methods for fixing an issue with the Pluto app on your Vizio TV is to unplug it from the wall outlet, although it may seem obvious.

Be patient and make sure you wait 60 seconds before plugging it back in.

While the TV is unplugged, locate and press the power button on your TV for 30 seconds, which is typically found on the bottom or back of the TV.

NOTE: You must hold the power button on your TV, and not the remote control for this to work properly.

This is more efficient than turning your TV on and off because it will cause your TV to do a soft reset and use up any remaining battery life.

After a minute, reconnect the TV’s power cord, and Pluto should work after you launch the application!

This fix should work for most of you, but we have a few other suggestions if it doesn’t.

Soft reset your Vizio TV

If the power cycle didn’t fix your Pluto app issues, you should try the soft reset in the Vizio TV menu.

Here’s how you can soft reset the television:

  • Press the “Menu” button on your remote control.
  • Click “System” then “Reset & Admin”
  • Choose “Soft Power Cycle”

This is another way to refresh the cache and memory inside your Vizio TV, which fixes most issues before trying anything else.

Check if Pluto is down

If the Pluto app still isn’t working on your Vizio television, double check to make sure the Pluto servers aren’t down.

This doesn’t happen often but can happen to any web server.

To check this, you have a few different options:

  • Open the Pluto app on your tablet or smartphone and see if it works
  • Check the Pluto account on social media like Twitter or Facebook.
  • Visit DownDetector to see if others are reporting similar problems.

Reset your router and modem

After trying both soft reset solutions, testing and resetting the internet connection is the next logical step.

Head over to your router (and modem) to ensure the lights are green and not showing a red/, orange, or yellow color.

On top of that, you can use your phone, computer, or tablet to check if the internet works.

If you’re having internet issues, unplug the router and modem for 60 seconds before plugging them back in to reset the connection.

Update your Vizio TV

Not having your Vizio Smart TV updated can cause an array of issues, the Peacock app not working being one of them.

While your Vizio TV should be automatically updating, you may have to manually update it:

  1. Press the Menu icon on your remote.
  2. Select System then Check for Updates.
  3. Choose Check for Updates.

Your TV will automatically search for any available updates, and install the newest version available.

You can also manually update your Vizio TV by entering your model number on Vizio’s support page, downloading the update onto a USB flash drive, then inserting the USB into your TV.
