How To Download & Update Apps On Hisense TV (Quickest Guide)

In this post, I’ll teach you how to download and update apps on your Hisense Smart TV in under 10 minutes.

Once you finish the guide, you can stream your favorite shows and movies on your television.

How to Download Apps on a Hisense TV

Depending on which Hisense TV model you own, the instructions for downloading apps on a Hisense TV will vary slightly.

On Hisense Smart TVs (App Store)

For Hisense Smart TVs using the VIDAA operating system, the app store is the easiest way to download applications to your device.

Once your television is turned on, follow these instructions to install applications:

  1. Make your way to the Apps section, and launch the App Store.
  2. Once it’s open, find the Smart TV app you want to download.
  3. Click on the application’s icon and choose Install. Wait a few seconds while the installation process happens.
  4. After it’s installed, the app will be available on your TV dashboard for use.

On Hisense Smart TVs (VEWD)

If the app store doesn’t have the application you’re looking for, Hisense Google TVs work well with VEWD.

Once your television is turned on, follow these instructions to install applications:

  1. Press the Apps button on your Hisense Google TV remote and choose the VEWD App Store to launch.
  2. Once it’s open, use the filters or search option to find your desired app.
  3. Select its app icon and then press the OK button on the remote.
  4. The app will download and install onto your Hisense Smart TV.

On Hisense Roku TVs

A lot of Hisense TVs use Roku as their operating system, which has a slightly different process for downloading apps onto your device.

Once your television is turned on, follow these instructions to install applications:

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Choose Streaming Channels, then Search Channels.
  3. Using the on-screen keyboard, search the name of your desired app.
  4. Click the app’s icon, then select Add Channel to install it onto your Hisense Roku TV.

On Hisense Android TVs

Lastly, some Hisense TVs use Android as their operating system, which also has a slightly different process to download apps onto your device.

Once your television is turned on, follow these instructions to install applications:

  1. Press the Home button on the remote.
  2. Choose Apps, then Google Play Store, then select the Search icon.
  3. Using the on-screen keyboard, search the name of your desired app.
  4. Click the app’s icon, then choose the Install button to install it onto your Hisense Android TV.

How to Update Apps on a Hisense TV

Generally speaking, the applications will automatically update on your Hisense TV and don’t require you to do anything.

However, you’ll want to do the following if you run into an issue.

Reinstall the App on your Hisense TV

If you’re having issues updating an application on your Hisense Smart TV, the first step is to uninstall and then reinstall it.

  1. First, you’ll want to remove the app by navigating to the “Home” screen and then choosing the app using your remote control.
  2. Once the application is selected, press the “red” button on your remote.
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the app, and then press “OK.”
  4. Lastly, you’ll want to reinstall the application again using the instructions provided earlier in this article. When you reinstall the application, the most up-to-date version will be installed.

Update the Firmware on your Hisense TV

Certain factory-installed Hisense TV apps cannot get deleted. So if they don’t automatically update to the newest version, you’ll have to update your TV’s firmware, which should also update the application.

  1. You’ll want to go to the main settings screen by pressing the Cog Wheel button (Settings) on your Hisense remote control.
  2. Once you’re in the settings menu, select “All,” then “About,” and finally, choose “Software Update.”
  3. You’ll want to click “Detect” to check if you have the most recent firmware on your device and if you don’t, install the latest version.

NOTE: This should fix any problems you’re having with factory-installed apps on your Hisense Smart TV.

Update Google Play on your Hisense TV

Some Hisense TVs use an Android operating system, which means you’ll need to use the Google Play Store to download apps.

If you encounter issues with an Android application you’ve downloaded, here’s a simple fix: look it up in the Google Play Store. If the app isn’t up-to-date, an “Update” button will be visible for you to update it.

Let’s say you own a Hisense Android TV, but you’re unable to access the Google Play Store on it. It’s generally recommended to reach out to your retailer or the device manufacturer for a solution instead of resorting to a third-party app to sideload the Google Play Store. Typically, all Android devices come with Google Play already installed.

Use Vewd on your Hisense TV

Vewd serves as an online marketplace that provides a collection of applications specifically tailored for smart TVs. These applications are all housed in the cloud and can be accessed directly via Vewd. Vewd independently manages all the updates for these apps, separate from your smart TV.

While Vewd primarily works with Android TVs, it can also be installed on a selection of non-Android Smart TVs.

NOTE: You may need to manually update the Vewd app if your TV isn’t using an Android operating system.

Soft reset your Hisense TV

If you’ve exhausted all of the other solutions on this list with no result, the next step is to soft reset your Hisense Smart TV.

To start the soft reset process, you’ll want to unplug the plug from the wall outlet for a minute.

It’s crucial to wait 60 seconds after unplugging it. Before plugging it back in, be patient and wait until it has been at least a minute, or else it may not work.

In the meantime, find and hold the power button on your Hisense TV for 30 seconds while it’s unplugged. Make sure that you’re pressing your TV’s power button and not the power button on your remote control.

You may find the power button on the back of your TV, on the front panel, or on either of the sides. It’s typically located near the channel and volume buttons.

Your TV will soft reset itself and help drain any remaining power in the device.

NOTE: This is not the same as just turning the TV on and off.

After the 60 seconds are up, plug the TV back in; it should power back on, fixing the issue.
